What are coronaviruses? 

Coronaviruses are a large group of viruses that can cause illness in animals and humans. Some coronaviruses commonly circulate in the United States and usually cause upper respiratory symptoms such as cough or runny nose, although some can cause more serious illness. The 2019 novel (new) coronavirus causes the illness coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Purpose of the study

The main intent of the study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the study drug for the treatment of symptomatic nonhospitalized adults with high and low risk of progression to severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) infection. The
study will be conducted in the setting of locally available standard of care COVID-19
treatment. We will also be determining whether the study drug reduces COVID-19- related hospitalization (adjudicated) and all deaths regardless of occurrence outside of hospital or during hospitalization (not adjudicated).

Who may participate in this study?

You may qualify for this research study if the following applies to you:

  • Are the age of 12 years or older

  • Ability and willingness to provide informed consent prior to initiation of
    any study procedures.

  • You have COVID-19 symptoms, such as: fever, dry cough, shortness of breath, sore throat etc.

  • You are currently not hospitalized AND you have not been previously hospitalized due to COVID-19

  • Documentation of laboratory-confirmed active SARS-CoV-2 infection

  • Willing and able to comply with the study requirements and procedures
